  Politics.

Axis of Reformation.

Iran, currently member of the renouned Axis of Evil, has shown us a demonstration of democracy. With the parliament refusing to give in to the censorship imposed by the Guardian Council, a battle of principles has taken form. It is as much reform orientated vs. conservative as it is future vs. past. At this moment the Council should be aware that their grip on the country won't hold. Their influence is slowly slipping. And their resistance will only make it more difficult for them.

There is, however, no reason to celebrate. Yet. I have no doubt that some sort of deal will be struck before the battle is won. After all things don't change over night. But they do change. And that process is not triggered by a military intervention but by an inevitable development in the minds of the people.

Not all is well. But there are definite signs of improvement. And we shall see where the axis of evil will be tomorrow.

beyond the void, the deadline, the coffin bar, a pocket full of ginger brains and whatever else...

The long bled for album our somewhere else is finally making it to the shops. First of course, there will be a party, dedicated to all our faithful fans, friends and family. And a little unplugged concert.

And despite it being all rather small, it's actually a very big thing.

  Politics.

Israel and Scharon on the wall.

Every other day the Isreali gouvernment ask themselves why the rest of the world does not look upon them with pity but with contempt. Pointing at the frequent suicide bombings of Hisbollah and Hamas does no good either. Instead there are increasingly more accusations concerning the military operations and the wall.

Why is it that Israeli are perceived as the aggressor, while Palestinensians continue to bear the mark of the victim?

The answer is terribly simple. Even though it is far from fair. Israel is a democratic state with a democratically elected gouvernment. Hamas and Hisbollah are not. These organisations do not represent a state but a group of criminals. The suicide bombings are not an attack against the state of Israel, they are criminal acts. Neither is a democratic choice of the Palestinensian people.

Of course Israel has the disadvantageous position of being a democracy, and being judged accordingly. They are expected to behave like a constitutional state, and those standards are - fortunately - very high. Their opponents though are outlaws. Nobody honestly excepts them to behave in a fair and democratic way. They do not represent the people. Scharon on the other hand is acting in the name of the people of Israel, using their forces, their money and their conscience. Their lives.

It is a matter of responsibility. Should Israel continue on that way, it might lose its status. The world expects more from a democratic country. But they do not really expect anything from the Palestinensians. Who do not even have a state.
