  We few (cont.)

Stefan Ulrich from the SZ mentioned a truly interesting idea: let the Europeans decide. Who, the countrpeople?

No. ALL Europeans. All 450 million. Let them decide whether Europe wants the new constitution.

There is an obvious flaw in this idea. But it is nevertheless fascinating.

  We few.

Back-foot Battle

At this point it is entirely possible that the English people will block the new European constitution. The popular tabloid media have turned from Euroskeptic to Europhobic, sowing warnings of a possible European superstate. All the while Brussel is desperately trying to get at least a little attention and maybe even influence. It is a bizarre thing to observe.

Tony Blair though appears weaker than ever. The responsibility for England's part in the new constitution seems to heavy for him. So let someone else do it. Let someone else make a decision. And live with it.

To be honest, I am not sure if this is such a bad thing. In an ideal scenario a Europe-wide act of souvereignity would at least separate those who want a united Europe from those who don't. It would make things clearer, and ultimately, easier. The core states could continue the process while the nay-sayers take a step back. And everyone would be happy.

Of course this is not how it is going to work. England does not want to leave the EU. They merely want to keep their membership as convenient as possible.

  Irreversible.

Martin is currently rather busy working at the special psychosis unit. And although he quickly found out that he does not enjoy getting up at 6:30 in the morning and has no time for breakfast or lunch, he does take a certain interest in his new position. Really.

  Target: Random.

Inside the fire is a devastating article by Jo Wild on the current Iraq discussion. It is not about politics. Not about politics at all.

There is one phrase that stuck with me: Dir balak:

Take care.
